WELCOME TO THE BIGS, MIKE!
Mike Moustakas – Promoted from AAA Omaha. Moustakas has the potential for elite talent, he is an absolute must add in keeper leagues, and what the hell, he should be a must add in all leagues due to the crap that’s available at 3rd base.
Anthony Rizzo – 1 for 2 with 2 walks, not a bad debut from the youngster, but like I said yesterday, keep your expectations in check from such a deep first base position.
Dustin Pedroia – After getting his knee “thoroughly” examined on Thursday it was determined that he only has a bruised knee cap. I guess Pedroia now has an excuse to use when he sucks!
Jerry Sands – was optioned back to AAA Albuquerque. Sands struggled at the major league level his first time around, but this shouldn’t affect his long term outlook, Sands could be quite a sleeper next year.
Albert Pujols – Started at 3rd base again on Thursday. In Yahoo! leagues, Albert Pujols can gain 3B eligibility with two more starts or six more appearances at the hot corner.
Joba Chamberlain – Will need Tommy John surgery, maybe that’s the reason why he sucks so bad?
Jonny Venters – Got the save yesterday as Kimbrel needed a day off. Venters has been exceptional this year, but is no more than an elite holds guy this year.
Craig Kimbrel – Was passed up on a save situation yesterday because he pitched two days in a row and threw 28 pitches on Wednesday. A lot of people are looking too much into this, I believe Fredi as Kimbrel has done nothing to relinquish the closers role.
Trevor Cahill – 2.2 IP, 6 ER and 8 H. Cahill is still obviously a very good pitcher, but he’s not a sub 3 ERA pitcher, still it was a bit of a surprise to see him get lit up by such a weak offensive team in Chicago. I would still continue to run Cahill out there every start until he proves otherwise.
