postheadericon THURSDAY ROUNDUP!

Ricky Romero – Pitched 8 shutout innings against the Orioles Wednesday night while striking out 12.  Romero matched a career high with the 12 K’s and now sports a dazzling 3.01 ERA with 6 wins.

Michael Morse – 3 for 4  2 homeruns, 3 RBI and he continues to tear the cover off the ball.  If Morse happens to be on your waiver wire, pick him up and start him immediately.  Morse now sports 12 homeruns and 40 RBI on the year and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Scott Kazmir – Released from the Angels on Wednesday, after sucking it up for the last 2 years.  Kazmir hasn’t been fantasy relevant since 2008, he’ll catch on somewhere but don’t expect anything from him.

Allen Craig – Diagnosed with a small fracture in his knee cap and is likely to miss 6 weeks.  Its too bad, as Craig was having a nice season at a position that’s scarce.

Joe Mauer – Will be activated from the disabled list on Friday.  It appears Mauer’s hitting session against Nathan yesterday went well, I still wonder why they’re waiting until Friday to activate him.

Albert Pujols – Needs one more start at 3B to become eligible there.  This is significant news, if Pujols gets that one more start at 3B, he will also be eligible at 3B next  year.

Alfonso Soriano – Activated from the DL on Wednesday but did not start.  He did enter the game as a pinch hitter and struck out.  Soriano wasn’t exactly tearing the cover off the ball in his rehab assignments, I would wait a little before putting him in your lineup.

Dustin Ackley – Recalled from AAA Tacoma.  Ackley is listed as an OF in Yahoo! Leagues, and I would not start him as an OF.  Once he gets 2B eligibility he could become quite valuable there.  Ackley is a must grab in all deep leagues.

Jeff Baker – Call me crazy, but for those of you with awful teams, take a look at Jeff Baker.  Baker comes with an asterisk attached to him.  Baker is worth a look for teams who have absolutely nothing to lose, but only against LEFT handed pitching.  Baker on the year is hitting .500 with 2 homeruns and 11 RBI in 46 at bats.  If your team is struggling and you’re looking for a quick fix look at Baker and start him against LEFTIES only!
